Hello Professor and classmates,
My name is Melissa Burner and I currently live in Mechanicsburg, PA with my husband and children. I am currently in my 7th semester at Penn State World Campus, majoring in Labor Studies and Employment Relations. I work full time and I’m currently enrolled in 16 hours, so the majority of my time is spent working or doing homework. On those rare occasions I have some free time I enjoy spending it with my family, especially doing outdoor activities. One fun fact about me is that I lived in Iceland for about 4 years, it is a beautiful country and I was blessed to call it home for a short time. We are scheduled to move again at the end of the summer to Virginia, so I intend to spend this summer enjoying all that PA has to offer while our time slowly comes to an end in this beautiful state.
This is one of two Earth classes I am taking this semester, and I also took an Earth course last fall. The first course was so informative and eye opening that I jumped at the chance to learn more about earth sustainability. I hope to walk away from this course with knowledge that will help me make decisions that will positively impact planet earth. We only have one earth, so taking care of it should be a priority!
I have taken all my courses in the online format up until this point and I am very comfortable navigating online content and classrooms. My one concern as always, is time management and ensuring that I get the most out of each course. I wish you all a wonderful and successful semester! I look forward to getting to know each of you.
